Illuminating hadron structure by scattering light on light

چکیده
Two photon production of hadronic resonances is one of the clearest ways of revealing their composition, as illustrated in Fig. 1. The nature of the isoscalar scalars seen in ππ scattering below 2 GeV, the f0(600) or σ, f0(980), f0(1370), f0(1510), f0(1720), · · ·, remains an enigma [1,2]. While models abound in which some are qq, some qqqq, sometimes one is a KK-molecule, and one a glueball, definitive statements are few and far between. Since photons couple to neutral hadrons through their charged constituents, as in Fig. 1, their two photon width is a measure of the charge of these [3,4,5,6,7,8]. For instance, if the f0(980) is an ss state its radiative width is 0.2 keV [3], while if it is a KK-molecule, this is 0.6 keV [4] depending on the specifics of the model [6]. Can experiment distinguish these possibilities?

Comparison of the Light Charged Particles on Scatter Radiation Dose in Thyroid Hadron Therapy
Bachground: Hadron therapy is a novel technique of cancer radiation therapy which employs charged particles beams, 1H and light ions in particular. Due to their physical and radiobiological properties, they allow one to obtain a more conformal treatment, sparing better the healthy tissues located in proximity of the tumor and allowing a higher control of the disease. Â Objective: As it is well ...
متن کاملTowards Measurement of Polarization Properties of Skin using the Ellipsometry Technique
Introduction: The human skin is an active medium from the optical point of view. Therefore, the diagnostic and therapeutic techniques employing light are increasing. Current optical techniques are based on the measurement of the intensity of reflected absorbed or backscattered light from or within skin. Studies have shown that biological tissues, and in particular skin, demonstrate polarization...
متن کاملOptical activity in the scattering of structured light.
We observe that optical activity in light scattering can be probed using types of illuminating light other than single plane (or quasi plane) waves and that this introduces new possibilities for the study of molecules and atoms. We demonstrate this explicitly for natural Rayleigh optical activity which, we suggest, could be exploited as a new form of spectroscopy for chiral molecules through th...
متن کاملEngineering of core/shell nanoparticles surface plasmon for increasing of light penetration depth in tissue (modeling and analysis)
Objectives: In this article, a new procedure for increasing the light penetration depth in a tissue is studied and simulated. It has been reported that the most important problem in biomedical optical imaging relates to the light penetration depth, and so this makes a dramatic restriction on its applications. In the optical imaging method, the detection of the backscattered pho...
متن کاملPhysics at the Light-Front
The light-front representation of quantum chromodynamics provides a frame-independent, quantum-mechanical representation of hadrons at the amplitude level, capable of encoding their multi-quark, hidden-color and gluon momentum, helicity, and flavor correlations in the form of universal process-independent hadron wavefunctions. The universality and frame-independence of the LCWF’s thus allow a p...
